The beer pours a fizzy off brown head that dissipates quickly while the beer itself is a dark chocolate black with some brown hues to it. The texture looks smooth but does not really betray any heft to it.
The smell is pretty good. The cocoa and hazelnut notes come upfront but the sweeter banana note sometimes peeks through everything. There is a very light marshmallow note around the edges of the beer but it is pretty faint.
The taste is good. It tastes exactly like the smell but the banana is a bit more subtle and blends with the other notes instead of standing out. There is no trace of any alcohol despite the high abv. There is also a light roasted malt note in the finish that lingers a little bit.
The feel is very good. It has a very heavy body that is thick with very little carbonation.
Overall, a delicious and indulgent beer that comes closer to a traditional RIS.
