Inspired by what Kai’s son used to call his Dad’s beer, this sour ale with blueberry, mango, vanilla & milk sugar tastes amazing!

Lactose isn’t overdone and works well in this juicy beer.

A friend of mine who worked the Aslin Beer festival this summer gave me a can on 9-9-22. No canning date; consumed 12-22-22.

Beer poured a murky ruby pink with no head to speak of. This is not an attractive pour.

Nose is blueberry forward with some vanilla in the background.

Taste is a malt base that is dominated by the lactose, and the blueberry and vanilla fruit additions. There is a tang of sourness but to me comes across in the finish as sweet as juice-based smoothies do.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and does not come across as neither refreshing nor smooth.

Overall not sure how this qualifies as beer.

Pours a hazy raspberry color with a short lived pink head which turns to lacing and islands. Tropical berries especially raspberry and blackberry along with lime and vanilla on the nose. Taste follows the nose and is delish!

Great beer! Would like for the mouthfeel to be a tad thicker.

Have to stop buying aslin sours and getting stuck in this lucy/football situation. For as good as they are at ipas, they make some of my least favorite "sours," which is saying something bc I me some sours.

Pours raspberry red with a nice enough looking pink head. The look is the best thing about it. Nose uninteresting and flat with a vanilla sweetness. Taste is very similar. A little raspberry flavor and a smooth vanilla rounding out that , as usual, tastes like an accident and seems to stomo on any fruity and sour quality it would otherwise possess . Not very tart, sour, or funky. A little but of carbonation slightly lightens up the sickly syrupy mouthfeel. Pouring the rest down the drain!

Can:
A pale raspberry/pink body with a froth of white atop it. The nose is almost pure sugar cane with a little vanilla. Some macerated blueberry-like scents sneak out, but this smells more like a dessert than a sour. Taste also leans heavily on the sweet notes, though there's at least dent in that wall from the sour on the palate. The beer is pretty smooth and not too thick or sticky despite the sweet flavors.

A beer I can get through quickly without thinking of it, but has too much sweetness for my liking, in general.

Look - Reddish/Pink raspberry color. Cloudy. light, creamy pink head.
Smell - You immediately smell the sourness, but it is not overwhelming. Berry aroma with notes of vanilla and lactose.
Taste - It is made with blueberry and mango, but if I had to guess I would have probably say it has more of a raspberry flavor. You can almost taste the lactose and vanilla before you sip it. The sourness is not overwhelming and doesn't have a long lasting aftertaste.
Feel - Creamy. Medium level of sourness.
Overall - Great beer. I am a big fan of lactose and vanilla in sour ales. It is both sweet and sour, but not overdone for either.
