L: Poured from a growler to a snifter glass. Had a dull orange color and a very cloudy consistency. There was a quarter inch of foamy head that lasted a below average amount of time. Not much lacing here.
S: A very enticing aroma of citrus fruit, hops, tropical fruit, vanilla, and malt.
T: Tasted of a ton of tropical fruit (mango, in particular), a hint of malt (mostly in the finish; very fleeting), a lot of hops (quite bitter), a good shot of citrus fruit (lime and lemon), and a hint of vanilla as well. This is a juicy, tangy, and fruity flavor. It's a little off-putting at first - the fruit's up front and the hops in the finish - but it levels out. Tasty stuff.
F: A fair amount of carbonation with a smooth finish. Medium-bodied.
O: An excellent DIPA. Drinkable.

Happy New CANned Collab Beer Sunday (Week 770) as I try to get out from under the backlog here at Chez Woody. It is a real boon for The CANQuest (tm), but I have pretty much stopped buying more beer for the meantime.
From the CAN: "Double India Pale Ale conditioned on mango, passion fruit, lime & vanilla".
As usual, I was hopeful of clarity upon Crack!ing open the CAN's vent, but as soon as I beCAN my slow, gentle C-Line Glug, I abandoned all hope! It foamed up nicely to create two-plus fingers of foamy, soapy, rocky, tawny head with decent retention. Color was a turbid, murky Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9). Nose was VERY tropical & while I could easily identify the mango, passion fruit eluded me although I could perceive that it was not just mango. Mouthfeel was medium, a little on the thin side for an AIIPA/ADIPA. The taste was really bitter, very fruity & yet not at all sweet. I was a little CANflicted by all of this since I generally like bitterness, but this was like rind & pith. In CANtinuing to drink it, the flavors kind of grew on me. I beCAN to taste whatever it was beyond mango more clearly & while I still could not ascertain that it was passion fruit, I did know that there was something else. I wonder if it was the lime that was causing this raw bitterness. Hmm. Finish, while bitter & dry overall, evinced a hint of vanilla. 8=O This was an odd little duck, not really suited for the style, but not bad overall. YMMV.
