Bottle at share.Near black pour, small airy beige head. Aroma is chocoalte, roast and barrel. Taste brings a party of all kinds of things, wine notes, brandy, chocolate, roast. Very complex.

My first BA Aslin and I can't say I was overly impressed, but still a solid offering. Mouthfeel is the star here - a really solid thick feel going down. The bouquet was strong too; definitely smelled of the red wine side of things. Look was OK - no real head to speak of but I could see some reddish hue as I poured it from the bottle. Taste is where it fell down for me. Cold out of the fridge was dominated by red wine - definitely not the temperature to drink red wine...but it's part of my routine. Once I sensibly letvit warm to room temperature, it really improved, had less of the red wine barrel taste and more of a Stout taste, maybe even some of the Vanilla came through. Beignets? Cognac? Rye whiskey? Couldn't really get any of them...and how the hell can you really add a beignet to the boil any way!?! Nice try by Aslin but not up to their other offerings based on what I've heard in my opinion.

L - Deep pitch, opaque black with a thin tan head that dissipates quickly leaving behind no real lacing to speak of.
S - Rich Port wine and chocolate and little bit of toffee.
T - Rich port wine and chocolate dominate the palate throughout. Some caramel throughout from the Port. Hints of vanilla and toffee as well as some alcohol on the back end.
F - Full bodied with a light to moderate amount of carbonation. Somewhat oily.
O - A pretty nice barrel aged stout, but considering the complexity of the description - (Blend of Red Wine, Port & Cognac barrels. Finished in Rye Whisky. Double barrel aged Stout, brewed with beignets and conditioned on Brazilian coffee from our friends at Mostra Coffee, cocoa nibs & vanilla.) - I was really hoping for more.
