On tap at brewery:
An opaque near Tang-like neon guava colored beer sits in my glass. There is a fragile head that falls to a fizzy ring.
Nose is of a tart wild ale with a hint of the barrels included. Pretty acidic passion fruit scents hit my nose with a berry-like backing.
Moderate to heavy sourness opens, dulled just slightly by some of the wine cask flavors and feel. Carbonation has a sharp feel, but is so dispersed on my palate it almost isn’t noticeable above the sourness. Knowing gooseberries are fairly tart, I am guessing they are adding to the sour, but also helping to mask the raspberry notes from me.
A little nuance with the conditioning, but a little powerful on the sour has this beer as being decent enough for one pour.
