Ode to a tried and true algorithm. A West Coast inspired IPA dry-hopped with Citra and Nelson. We’re getting a sweet, floral scent on the nose. Packed with notes of fruity lychee mingled with crushed grapes, finishes crispy with a satisfying bitterness.

Can - no date:
Heavily hazed and near cloudy (i.e. not murky) white gold body underlies a nice foamy white head. Some cratering occurrs as I let is sit briefly before indulging. Lacing is spotty but not bad, as the thick collar morphs into a gossamer peninsula that covers 80+% of the surface.
Nose has citrus rind and a lightly pungent, near cat pee (oddly? enough) like hop notes - the Citra seems fairly evident. There's also a ripe honeydew and/or lychee-like sweetness involved that seemed secondary at first, but becomes an equal participant eventually.
A clean, hay like opening is balanced with some grain and a neutral bitterness. The bitterness turns toward citrus peel and there is even a brief citrus pulp acidity in the middle of the taste. Initially there are some herbal and earthy undertones as the closest I get to the pungent notes of the nose, but these grow a bit with warmth. The sweeter aromas seem to not translate to the taste, being almost absent until I notice a little presence in the back of the taste.
Fairly clean with a lean towards medium thickness/heft. The carbonation is moderate and lightens things slightly. They cal this "west coast inspired" and while I'd focus on the "inspired" part, it is a bit different than Aslin's normal beers - on purpose. Actually, is reminds me a bit of an Ocelot beer, and that is a good thing, in my opinion.

Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass.
Real nice looking IPA. A shiny somewhat clear pale brass color, with hints of rising fine carbonation. Bit of chill haze going on possibly on closer inspection. Classic bright white topped head, lots of lacing and pill cling on the sides. Three fingers and hardly budging. Score me somewhere just over a hair over 4.
Aroma is a hop angle of super dirt and dank. Fresh tilled and dirty soil, with a hint that's nearly smokey and hitting almost of burnt pine trees. Luckily not overbearing, a bit one dimensional, but a kind of unique one.
Palate adds a little more kick and turns. Good fruity and nearly juicy orange sweet hop note on first sip. Settling in, the mid palate then kicks up that earthy hot bitterness for contrast. The aftertaste shines in a somewhat contradictory note of sweet orange, and bitter dirty earth. Lingering light pepper, a touch of honey also.
A bit of clashing hop styles, but fun beer to drink in the IPA realm.
