De Gens is a hop-accentuated German Style Pilsner with light lemon, pale honey sweetness and a crisp toasted bread, graham cracker-like malt character that deftly balances the dry-hopped treatment of Hallertau Mittlefrüh and Callista.

Poured from the can into a Libbey style pilsner glass.
Real nice appearance. Frothy and rich rocky sized head with a big tall reach of three plus fingers. Lots of clingy lace and staying power too. Body color is a real beaming brass lemon yellow, with fine linear streams of carbonation. It is though slightly hazy.
Clean sensing aroma with a wonderful hop quality. Juicy sensing with a nice light herbal and perfume sweetness. Has a very nice fruit component that's mild and adds quite a distinct character without going overboard or being a juice bomb.
Real delicious palate. Good mouthfeel, but sticks to basic lager like body. Mid palate is rich in a leafy juice up tones of grass and herbs, with maybe a bit of melon like quality. Excellent finishing bitterness, and a soft astringent like flavor and quality on the finish.
Real solid and unique tasting pils.

Clear gold with two fingers of white foam, visible carbonation. Pilsner malts, lemon zest, toasted biscuit and moderate dry hops in the nose. Tastes bready with accents of biscuit malts, decent crispness, but kind of thin on the backend with lemon kissed finish. Feel is thinner, bready, crisp, clean, and rewardingly dry. The wife liked it

My first review of Aslin is probably an odd choice considering they are known more for their hoppy beer styles, but I like to judge smaller breweries like this (especially those who just recently started distributing to my area) by their more "traditional" stylistic recipes, if they offer any. I had one of their hazy IPAs last week and it was alright but nothing special, so let's hope this dry-hopped German pilsner excites me more.
The pour here is a straw-yellow/golden semi-hazy beer with a chalky white head that builds up to about a finger at its peak. It retains well, sure, but the initial build-up just isn't quite the fluffy excellence that I associate with this style. Some sudsy legs but overall not an amazing appearance. Kind of a disappointing first impression.
The nose here is hay/straw with some light herbal Noble hop type notes and grassiness, plus slight deviations into the realm of, say, nectarines and other pit/stone fruit. A little bit of a mineral presence with a touch of crackery Pilsner malt and understated yeastiness. Hmm, definitely not as "clean" as other, more traditional German pilsners. Certainly feels like an Americanized version, but I think the hop treatment at least feels more reined-in than it otherwise could've been. Is that a good thing? Honestly, probably if you prefer more traditional pilsners, so it also kinda feels like they stayed safe with this one but still wanted to dry-hop it. Interesting choice.
Crisp and lithe flavor profile with bready and crackery malts combining with a bit of the stone fruit note found in the nose, coming across a bit herbal and semi-sweet in the mid-palate. Pretty good and quenching stuff, not sure why it has such a bad rap here. Sure, not the most stylistically-accurate German pilsner in the US, but not bad at all, and doesn't really deserve an 84 average. Feel is slick and a little chewy but still nice and drinkable enough to enjoy the whole can with relative ease. I enjoyed it, and could definitely drink more than one in a session, but it's not a special beer by any means. German pilsners don't have to be, though.

I love this beer. I think it's one of the best craft beers I've had. Excellent taste. A bit pricey, but that's ok. Hope they bring it back soon.

16 ounce can poured into a pilsner glass.
Coming from Aslin I should have known this would be hazy but was hoping that since it is a pilsner, it wouldn't be.
Color is pale yellow and there is a good white head of rocky foam with some sticky lace and some bubbles rising from the bottom. The nose is fairly strong and dominated by pilsner malt with a light honey-like aroma, yeast and a small fruity hop aroma are also present. Taste begins clean and dry with medium bitterness and floral hop flavor then finishes peppery and slightly mineral. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a bit of astringency and it is well carbonated.
Drinkable although forgettable and a bit off.

I'm loving the name - I wish the beer was better.
This one pours a pale straw yellow color, with a small head, and a little bit of lacing.
This smells like generic sweetness, lemony hops, and just a touch of grass.
This is just super basic and uninspired. There's a vague overriding sweetness here that kind of buries any interesting hop flavor or notable malt character. I guess I should have guessed that lagers wouldn't exactly be Aslin's forte. It's just not carefully brewed with too many flaws.
This is light bodied, and not crisp enough, with still a decent drinkability.
I wanted more out of this, but I should have known.
