Happy Valentine's Day, 2023. On tap at Pig and Fire.

Beautiful amber color in the glass. Pours with a nice off-white inch of foam that quickly dissipated leaving no lacing.

Aroma is an amazing sweet tropical blend of fruits and mouth watering grapefruit.

Quite smooth and sweet with a slightly saline and bitter bite on the tale end. Flavors of papaya, citrus, and apricot, maybe a little juniper on the finish

Note, did not pair well with the spice in my nachos.

No decipherable canning date, only cryptic E019132E on bottom rim. Poured into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint.

A: Hazy light amber with 1-finger off-white foamy head that falls quickly and leaves a thin band of lacing at the top but nowhere else.

S: Aroma is strawberry Fresca soda with a strong pink grapefruit and strawberry with light cotton candy and peach esters.

T: Flavor is not as grapefruit strong and much more strawberry, blueberry, mango, and candied peach. Esters are still pretty punchy with a lot of bubble gum and the alcohol also contributes some cherry-berry character. Bitterness is low.

M: Feel is soft and juicy with low-medium carbonation and nice smooth finish with no chalkiness.

O: Easily the best Aslin beer I have had after some past hits and misses. Hopefully this is a good sign of what’s to come more routinely from them from now on.

From a pint can into a clear glass liter mug the contents went. There's a poignant aroma reminiscent of fruit, closest to tangerine, that gets noticed at the crack of the can. Its head is foamy and white. The color of the beer is something tangerine like as well, dense, but bright. A soft and smooth body gets notice even before the taste. What makes that especially noteworthy is the high ABV it covers. The fruitiness of the smell is there to taste as well, but it's not as pronounced, nor too sweet. Plus, it's more complex, as it gets a little earthy. Complex, but consistent, as it doesn't go through a sweet to bitter transition as some IIPAs do. Lacing in the glass is standard for this style, almost none. Its name may not be particularly good, but the brew sure is.

L: Beautiful bright tangerine-maize color with a thin, bright white lazing of foam ringing the glass.

S: Explosive citrus (again with the tangerine) wafts; lots of juice and a hint of ripe melon and some pineapple in the background.

T: As advertised (in the best way); tons of juicy citrus, melon and pineapple. The El Dorado profile is unmistakable, but not overdone. Sugary malts form a nice background but stops just short of cloying. Just a hint of hop bitterness to counter the citrus overload.

F: Smooth and a bit boozy (hint of an alcohol burn), but I knew what I was getting into. Perfectly carbonated.

O: I was worried this would go off the rails due to the hop profile and high ABV (too many of the type are sickeningly sweet), but Aslin nailed this one.

16oz can from Tavour. Hazy yellow golden pour with a one finger fluffy head. Malty, bready aroma with light citrus and stone fruit notes. Taste is bread, mix of tropical and stone fruit, mild sweetness, thick, creamy with not much hop bitterness. Smooth.

Poured from a 16-oz can into pint glass in May 2022. I did not see a canned date on the label or can. I bought this at their Herndon brewpub, and drank this less about 1 week after purchase.

Appearance: Deep gold color with huge white head. It is deep with a very hazy complexion, like many IPAs. Head is very thick, and it lasts a minute, leaving a small covering. There is a medium amount of lacing on the glass.

Smell: Strong aroma of citrus and pineapple, as well as some pine and hops. The citrus aroma dominates the other aromas.

Taste: Sweet taste with a moderate bitter hops edge. There is a typical hops and citrus flavor, but with some sweetness as well. The bitterness from the hops is nicely balanced with the citrus sweetness. Has a very nice after-taste that lasts a moderate amount of time. Overall a nice balance and very drinkable.

Mouthfeel: Medium body, which makes this very drinkable. Medium alcohol, but I am pleasantly surprised as I expected more punch from the 9.4% listed on the label. This is very well balanced so the high alcohol does not overpower the rest of the experience.

This is a very good Imperial IPA. It has a nice mix of citrus, grapefruit, hops, malt, and other flavors, which makes it enjoyable. I like the overall balance, and that the citrus flavors and high alcohol are pronounced but do not dominate the flavors. This is a unique mix of flavors, and may become a favorite. This is the first beer I have tried from 'aslin beer co', and if their other beers are as good, I will be stopping by again. The beer is listed as 'retired' but I really hope this is available in the future.
