The beer pours a nice off white and light brown khaki head that dissipates at a moderate pace. The beer itself is an opaque chocolate black that looks really nice.
The smell is pretty good. It has a fairly powerful cardamom note that overpowers the chocolate and the curry. The chocolate is fairly sweet with only a tiny hint of the curry before the cardamom overpowers it. The cardamom and the curry mix better as the beer warms up.
The taste is good. It has a delicious mix of cardamom and sweet chocolate upfront. There is a slight bourbon note to it. The curry comes out twice. First, it does not work when it comes out in the finish because of how it lingers and reminds me a bit of vomit. The better instance is when it comes out to contrast with the cardamom to keep it from getting too powerful.
The mouthfeel is good. It has a heavy body with a smooth and silky texture to it. There is a tiny bit of carbonation to it.
Overall, it's a pretty good beer whole aftertaste seriously suffers from the curry flavor. Otherwise, it's a pretty good beer.
