Baltic Porters use lager yeast, lending itself to a cleaner taste & Saulé is a perfect example of that. This a roasty, chocolatey treat with notes of hazelnut & cocoa nibs with a clean finish.

DEEP mahogany brown pour with a nice tall head. Sticky foam fingers of lace coat the glass side all the way to the bottom.
Baltic Malty goodness from the start. I can't say I ever had a Porter that was 9.5% ABV. How can one not feel good with that?
Probably the best Porter I've ever had. But then again I'm mostly a Stout kinda guy.

16oz can from Tavour. Dark brown pour with high foamy beige head. Sweet, roasty aroma, chocolate. Taste is toasted malt, sweet, dark chocolate. Smooth, light bitterness.

Dark brownish black pour with a huge tan read that slowly fades. Great baltic nose with lightly roasted malt, dark bitter chocolate with vanilla and coffee accents, licorice, and generally malty. Taste is thinner in complexion with roasted malt leading the whole way with earth and slight coffee accenting the dulled bitter chocolate, leather added in, still overall a good baltic flavor profile. Feel is roasty but more so malty, heavier for style but highly drinkable, well rounded profile

Color isn't quite full black but instead mahogany brown but features nice wet cream colored head and plenty of chocolate and coffee and dark fruit in the nose to respectably call this a Baltic. This has a solid malt profile but the hop balance is what makes this work. It is a little light in body for the style but again makes it work with a luxurious coating and relatively clean aftertaste. Not really the season for this brew, but it is good.

Color is distinctly reminiscent of root beer. Good amount of light tan head that had good retention and a small amount of lacing. Aroma is rich and malty, but not especially noteworthy. On the tongue the malts are a little more subdued as the roasty flavors take center stage in a slightly imbalanced way. Smooth and full bodied with a nice light warmth from the alcohol.

Draught 8oz snifter at The Brass Tap here in Baltimore: Murky dark brown w/half a finger of whitish head that disapates quickly leaving a thin ring & spotty lacing; smell of roasted malts; tastes of those roasted malts and a hint of dark fruit; medium bodied, a bit prickly (carbonation?), and a slight alcohol "burn" at the end. NOT bad. Curious to try other offerings from this brewer
