Look: Very dark brown, dark tan head that gathers then subsides with a hard pour, quite a few floaters.

Smell: Dark malts and maple syrup, faint whiff of alcohol

Taste: Sweet maple is the majority of the flavor, with some chocolate undertones and a little bit of alcohol bite. A bit too sweet for my liking.

Mouthfeel: Smooth an velvety with a hint of carbonation adding a pleasant sparkle, and not quite as thick as expected.

Overall: It's just too sweet for me to really like this one. Another reviewer found it to be just on the right side of cloying, but I found it's just on the wrong side and would have been more enjoyable with a bit more body and some bitterness to balance the sugary character. If you like a very sweet beer, however, you might well like this more than I did.

Reddish brown on the pour, settling into a deep, deep brown in the glass. Beautiful, active tan colored head with excellent retention. Aroma is quite robust, with maple the dominant smell from afar. Closer inspection still leans heavy on the maple, but adds in some alcohol notes and what I can only assume is the marshmallow.

Taste is also maple heavy, with hints of chocolate and roasted malts. I'm not getting the graham cracker or bacon. Thankfully I like maple, as it is definitely the Grand Marshall of this parade. Feel is nice and thick, with pleasant alcohol warming.

At 10%, I'll likely be enjoying this one for the next hour or two.

It pours syrupy thick and about as black as can be. No light gets through and i think the room is a bit dimmer... Nice little brown cap of typical stout head that falls to a ring and island. The liquid leaves tenacious legs, coating the glass and reluctantly falling.

The smell is maple and more maple initially, so it is inherently sweet. As it warms up, the maple at least calms down a little. Graham cracker shows up along with cocoa and a vanilla marshmallow-like smell. I don't detect any bacon smell. Well alrighty then...this really is dessert in a glass.

Hey...guess what the taste opens with? Why...it's maple... To my non-sarcastic amazement, the stout base is definitely detectable - there's a decent maltiness and a slight bitter char. The other flavors are certainly supporting cast members, but they are there. Graham and cocoa and that vague vanilla marshmallow fluff thing. There's an ever so distant smoky note that I guess would be the bacon, and it gets a bit stronger with warmth. Hard to say. It is very, very sweet.

It's thick and almost chewy, intensely sweet yet it somehow avoids being a cloying mess. The taste is surprisingly clean - heavy, but short-lived. It is quite pleasantly warming.

Not too sure on this one - it is very close to excess. I'm thinking it is well-constructed and I'm liking it but not sure how much yet. The heavy maple makes me instinctively say one dimensional, but everything else eventually comes out to play. I'm not sure the slight smokiness is the bacon, but I could roll with that.

L - Deep black with some mahagony highlights with a minimal dark tan head that dissipates quickly leaving behind minimal lacing
S - Deep rich chocolate notes along with some hints of vanilla and graham cracker
T - Tons of rich milk chocolate and dark chocolates along with a solid amount of maple syrup and graham cracker with hints of bacon as well as vanilla.
F - Full bodied with light to moderate amount of carbonation.
O - A fantastic stout from Aslin.

Poured from the can into a teku style beer glass.

Deep dark walnut brown, opaque and thick looking but without a murky sludge. Creamy forming mocha head, three fingers in control, with some swiss cheese fine bubbles. Fairly good surprising staying power and unexpected. Very beautiful looking stout.

Aroma is large even just opening the can. Large woody maple, and pancake like flavors dominate the nose. More of a great roasted coffee angle, heavy on maple cream but with controlled sweetness. Lacks a bit of diversity even with the distinct added ingredients, but it's a very nice rich flavor on the nose. Comes off like morning breakfast all in one glass.

Palate isn't fooling around. Rich and large on maple syrup like crazy. Thick senses of woody maple sugar, and a syrup body to match. Faint touches of spicy heat, but the sweetness is heavy on this one. Minimal sensing coffee now, as the palate is just being overwhelmed by sugar. Does come off like a pancake flavor as well. Where's the coffee, chocolate and bacon that should show some character as an addition here? Some other neat tones of berry like fruit make the rounds, which at least creates some interest.

This nearly tastes like chugging pure maple syrup. Stout lacks the diversity of flavor and balance that I've know Aslin to have. This one is a bit of a let down, but not a total loss. Many of the specialized ingredients are nearly undetectable.
