Appearance: Black, big brown head.
Smell: Rich chocolate followed by bourbon barrel wood/vanilla notes.
Taste: Starts with a big chocolate hit, then moves straight into the booze. Let it warm up for a while. Booze blends in a little more after warming up. Still lots of chocolate and now some molasses. Quite thick, lasting chocolate and boozy finish.
Overall: A big and boozy imperial stout from a few years back. Still pretty hot after a few years. Definitely a sipper!

Update: on 6/20/2025 I drank a can of 2024 9th anniversary. The review and numbers are the same as 2023. But i did notice a hint of rye at the finish this time.
2023: 16oz can that was canned about 13 to 14 months ago. Was sitting on my basement floor since last winter. Drank 10/9/2024
Look: nice looking black body with a impressive head that persisted, leaving some lacing.
Smell: Roast, oak/wood, chocolate.
Taste: Roast, chocolate, oak/wood. a hint of vanilla, dark cherry, prune. Just slightly sweet overall. smooth. not boozy.
Feel is solid smooth not thin or thick.
This is a nice easy drinking beer. I enjoyed taking my time sipping it. Tasted best at room temp.

16oz can
L: jet black ale with a tall & frothy brown head
S: bourbon, roast, dark cocoa, oak
T: roasted barley, black patent, dark baker’s chocolate, fudge, oaky bourbon, vanilla, dark cherry, prune, caramel, toffee, black tea, earthy hops
F: full body, ample carbonation, booze is warming
O: Wow! World class barrel aged Imperial Stout in my opinion. I’ve had a ton of these and this one stands out as upper echelon.

Pours black hole dark, with a thin layer of dark caramel colored head. Aroma is dark malt, chocolate and bourbon, deeply bourbon. Taste is chocolate and bourbon. The ABV doesn't hold back here; only those brave of heart should tread here. A wonderful brew for those that prefer a bolder beer.
