Brasserie Cornelyshaff: Héinischter.
Strength: 4.2% ABV.
Style: Filtered Pilsener Style Lager.

33cl Twisted & Curved Flute Serving Glass.
Tasted on draft at the Brasserie Cornelyshaff Brewpub on 19th April '03, during a Brewery Visit.

Appearance: Absolutely clear, lovely looking golden fluid that is served with above average carbonation. Its lively draft serving method lends continuous support to the tightly formed white head.

Smell: Light grainy malts are dominant at first, a fresh smelling hop presence fills the middle and lingers as the beer is consumed.

Taste: A very clean tasting lager that is advertised as a Pilsener. It is not a misleading claim. The Héinischter is a more than ‘half-decent’ attempt, probably one of the best from Luxembourg. A refreshingly crisp, thirst-quenching Pils, which is easily imbibed and has a lovely mild-hop finish. Has a smooth, well defined, yet a soft taste. Unlike most attempts at this style, tastes are sufficient to retain interest.

Mouthfeel: A beer with exceptionally clean lines that has a decent mouthfeel, which also lends support to the fact that this is a decent Pilsener style lager.

Drinkability: Very good, the carbonation is the only detracting item; it can fill you with carbon dioxide if this offering is quickly consumed.

Overall: Another great beer that Cornelyshaff Co-Operative. Unlike its two bottled offerings, Ourdaller Waïssen & Ourdaller Wëllen, this is a much more mainstream beer that will obviously appeal to a wider range of consumers. This makes it all the harder to understand why it is only available on draft in the Cornelyshaff Bar at the moment. A “much better than average” attempt at a Pilsener.
