5 barley grains, oatmeal flakes, 3 hops, Puerto Rican cacao nibs, coffee and vanilla. This beer appeals for those who look for a toasty and creamy flavor. Ideal for brunch hours and to taste with strong meals.

Presentation: Draft, served in a pint glass.

Appearance: Pure black, with a small, tan colored half finger head that goes away quickly. The lacing covers the entire glass but doesn't stick around.

Smell: Strong, musky, oatmeal and raising scents dominate. There's some roasted malt and milk chocolate notes present as well.

Taste: The raisin taste overpowers the more subtle oatmeal and milk chocolate notes. It's a strange and sweet combination of flavors that while not terribly bad, are not that good either. It definitely needs some refinement.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, creamy and not cloying at all despite the sweetness. The only redeeming quality this beer has. It's medium bodied with low carbonation.

Overall: A good attempt at an oatmeal stout that ultimately gets held back by a strange and unbalanced flavor profile. There's better stuff out there to spend your time on.

a really tasty beer, i think my second favorite from these guys. what a cool place, and nice bunch of people, really trailblazing in puerto rico, and i was honored to be welcomed in here. this is a lighter bodied stout with coffee, cocoa nibs, and some vanilla. its not overly flavored, stout before anything else, which i really like. bold flavors happening everywhere, but not a ton of body, which makes it still easy drinking in the hot humid weather, i had no problem drinking this by the pint. the coffee is nice with the cocoa and the dark roasty malt in the aroma. the vanilla is extremely subtle, all in the finish in the flavor, gives it just a touch of sweetness to balance the dark roasted bitterness and the other extras. smooth feeling for sure, just not big, a real success there. i also really liked the yeast, which i guess is the same strain in all their beer, but it might flatter this one the most. its clean but not flavorless, and really dried this out quite nicely. you wouldnt necessarily think a flavored stout like this would suit the climate, but they have found a way to pull it off. keep an eye on these guys, they are really pushing beer forward on the island!
