(transcribed from notes) Tasted around last Halloween season, Nov. 05. at my local JDW pub, the Half Moon, in East London.
A: russet or ruby hued, with great clarity; the beige beer head comes thick and tightly frothy... remaining 1cm thick throughout the drink. An almost perfect pint poured by handpumps, if not for the slightly warmish serving temp.
S: nuts and refreshingly sweetish dark maltiness with hints of caramel upfront, quite fruity with pronounced entry of Fuggles on top of a herbal flavour and dark malts, in resemblance of a lesser malty edge like that of a Czech dark lager.
T: mouthful of bitter-sweet malty and slightly sour-fruity taste, turning a bit too soft as it goes, leading to a thin-bodied sugary malty aftertaste... the strong hop presence on the nose somehow is so restrained on the palate, making the whole flavour off-balance.
M&D: the warmish serving temp. proves the big problem with the taste of the beer. Overall the taste fights against the tide with its thin-ish body and without sufficient hop support, while the lack of fizz makes it slightly too flat on the palate. Just O.K but it could be nicer if the barrel was handled better.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
