Notes via stream of consciousness: I thought that this was supposed to be a New England style IPA but there's nothing on the label about that. Their website lists it as "slightly hazy and juicy". Well they've at least got that part of the appearance right because it's poured a slightly hazy golden body beneath an inch or so of white foam. Unfortunately, I can already see the head beginning to drop but maybe I've got a dirty glass here. The aroma doesn't give me a lot in the way of hops, and to be honest what I'm finding is a little like diesel fuel and herbs. There is a hop that displays that diesel note but it's usually just a part of a bigger picture, and I can't remember which one it is. In any case, I wouldn't call it a very good IPA aroma regardless of what style it's supposed to be. This is brewed with apricot puree, and that note does come through. I feel it's a little like an apricot "fruit leather" as opposed to a fresh apricot, but at least it's there. OK, moving forward, let's see what the taste is like... well I'm not finding the odd diesel-like note that I found in the aroma so that's good, and the apricot does remain. I'm not finding it overly herbal either, although there is some. It's a little 'raspy' with hop resins as well. The malt is biscuity, and a firm bitterness balances it and leaves it dry in the finish. So much for it being a juicy NEIPA - it might be a little juicy because of the apricot, but I'd personally just call that fruity. In the mouth it's medium bodied and crisp with a very fine-bubbled, seemingly natural carbonation. It's not a bad beer, I like it, but I don't feel that it's even remotely a juicy NEIPA, nor a good representation of an IPA in general as it's lacking in both hop aroma and flavor. Oddly, it's supposedly "twice dry hopped", although that really goes to the volume of hops that they're using doesn't it?
