Among the more disappointing IPA's I've had. Admittedly, part of my reason for grabbing it was its gorgeous label - a practice that has not worked well for me in myriad instances.
It's the bitterness combined with the lack of flavor that dooms this one. Perhaps more hops, more fruit, more anything, or even just a lower level of IBU's, could have saved it, as it stands, it just tastes of bland bitterness. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't terrible by any stretch of the imagination, but, at the price point, one may be able to do better, especially in such an amazing city for beer.

Jungle pours a darker copper color with a frothy lacing head. Earthy aroma. Flavor has some hints of earth, some noticeable malts, and a pretty bitter finish. Good body and feel. Overall its balanced in taste, but bitter.

L: Pours a hazy copper color with 2 fingers of white head fading to lace
S: Dull nose with minor citrus notes
T: Not particularly balanced, more bitter than the citrus the label would suggest
F: Carbonation a little lacking
O: Some of the bones are there but still needs some refinement, sort of expected this from a newer brewery.

Pours a slightly hazy golden color with white head. Citrus, light fruits, and some juiciness on the nose with little pine and floral; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with much of the same.

12oz bottle of the first bottling. Served in a snifter glass.
Pours a medium caramel-orange body, one finger white head, fair retention, good lacing. Smells of caramel, toffee, a little bit of tropical and passion fruit. That's the extent of the jungle aspect. It's a fair amount of malt and non-descript hop resin. Not too complicated, not too complex but fairly average nose. Flavour is similar, candied sugar and caramel with a bit of tropical fruit and resin. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, fair amount of carbonation, moderate non-descript bitterness. I think this just doesn't work all that well. It's nowhere near New England's best in terms of juicy tropical fruit IPAs, or even TG or Three Floyds. This is a fairly bland IPA.

Poured 12oz bottle into snifter. A cloudy rusty orange with a 1.5 white head. Fades into a ring and leaved behind a smattering of lacing on the glass. The aroma is malty and tropical with some breadiness. Flavor is more bitter than juicy with citrus and pine. I was expecting more tropical notes and it finishes with bitter grapefruit pith. Medium feel with appropriate carbonation. A normal IPA that won't really stand out against all the others.

This beer was a mess. There was almost no carbonation in style where carbonation is very important. The beer was also meant to have a tropical taste, but with the lack of carbonation it strongly resembled dish soap. Overall it was a terrible beer and I don't think I'll be visiting again unless the brewing gets cleaned up.
