Taster at Heritage Hop Haus. Golden stout, pale golden with a small creamy head. Sweet aroma, marshmallow, chocolate. Taste follows with more of the S'mores flavors, mildly sweet, with a creamy texture. Powderhaushas been nailing it lately.

the whole blonde stout thing has worn out its welcome as far as i am concerned, this, like all of them for the most part, is really nothing more than a fuller bodied blonde ale with some roasty and earthy elements. some use coffee, cocoa, whatever to achieve the darker palate, but they almost always taste sweet, and really, aren't all that stout-like, im not sure i love this trend anymore. that said, this is a nice one, more drinkable than most, with some smoked malt in the mix giving a smore theme a key element. there must be some cocoa in here too, as this has a deep earthy property that doesnt appear to be from the grain, that bitterness and depth is nice here, and its more robust in the finish. the smoke is light but needed and a cool touch for this, and even though its modeled on one of the sweetest desserts ever, this really isnt actually all that sugary, which i like. there must be some oats or something in the mash here, as this has a pretty good body to it for being so pale. i wish we could just call these blonde ales instead of stouts, im surprised this fad has lasted this long, but this is a better than most take on it. good balance, lots of flavor, plenty drinkable.
