Growler fill straight from the brewery, poured into a tulip.
A: Dark brown body, minimal head, red showing in the stem of the glass. Appears to be a touch under-carbed, that might be the fault of the growler.
S: Beautiful notes of chocolate and mint, especially considering the size of this beer @ 5.5%. Authentic and rich aromas...milk chocolate and cacao nib, chocolate cookies, lactose even? Impressions of vanilla as well.
T: Creamy chocolate and those same small vanilla notes along with a constant underlying but never overwhelming mint character. Hints of a roasted, sweetened coffee. Milk chocolate is throughout and has a rich character for a smaller beer.
MF: Refreshing light body with a lingering sweetness.
O: Not cloying or artificial tasting, this is a Girl Scout Thin Mint in a glass. Nice.

Taster at Heritage Hop Haus. Black pour, filmy beige head. Aroma comes in sweet, while taste veers off to herbal and floral notes. Some chocolate , then mint. Got it...Thin Mints cookies....

modeled on the thin mint cookie, and pretty close to it really, but because of that, its sweeter than i could drink a lot of. i like it being an actual stout, unlike the boy stout, which was a blonde one. there is nice depth to this in the nose, the sweet mint and milk chocolate up front, but a darker, more earthy bitter chocolate in the background from the grain, along with coffee nuance from the darker roasted grain at the core of this. it would not work nearly as well as a blonde stout. there must be some lactose in here, as this has a creamy texture immediately, and an obvious almost candied sweetness right up front too thats there for the whole drink. i could do with less of this, but it sure makes it taste like the cookie. the mint is perfectly proportioned here, just like it is in the cookie, and you get both sweet and bitter cocoa elements. smooth feel, this would work well on a nitro line, not overly big bodied, but feels right for what this is, full enough where all the flavors seem grounded instead of floating. i wish it was a little drier so i could have more than one of them, but i liked this one pretty well and so did my lady! some cool beers happening at powderhaus right now!
