possibly a special version of their little ripple, but if that is the case, the base beer is better here than what i had from the can last weekend. this was on tap during their cool oktoberfest event, a new one by me. its clear and without much head from the tap, looks a little tired, but the clarity and shine are appealing and i can see some bubbles rising up. it smells a little bit like that old school blueberry syrup for pancakes, which is to say somewhat sweet and artificial, less like real blueberries, which i would be shocked if they actually used in this based on the aroma. the flavor is pretty overpowering on the blueberry element, not because its overdone, but because the base beer seems so minimal, lighter to me than the little ripple i had from the can, so maybe a different base beer after all. its not quite as sweet as it smells, but still doesnt have the natural fruit vibe i was hoping for. light but not too light in feel, could use more carbonation and a cleaner finish. this is not the kind of thing i know these guys to do best, and this seems lackluster compared to all the other goodies on their impressive draft board right now, but we had to try one. this seems almost cheap to me, below expectations from these guys...
