of course they already have their bromeier, which is also a hefe type, but they introduced this one for their oktoberfest last weekend as well, nice and light, fluffy and well refined, german in yeast quality to me but not the classic hefe profile, at least in the sense that this isnt samey, its somewhat distinctive, and very drinkable, my favorite of the new german beers they recently put out. its got a little cloudiness to it but still looks illuminated to me in the glass, with a tall white head rising above the rim and sticking around. it smells and tastes authentic, some lemon, white pepper, green banana, and orange peel notes, quite a lot of citrus essence to it, at least for my palate. very dry, and with not a ton of flavor from the wheat malt, there could be some unmalted wheat in here too, this is slightly doughy and raw, earthy and rustic, i like the grain base a lot and dont wish for more from it at all. the finish isnt quite clean even though this is very dry, its got a little bit of a soapy thing and some minerals that linger, not flawed really, but different for the style, maybe ever so slightly astringent there, but this is tasty and fresh, an easy drinker, nicely carbonated, and a solid offering for their oktoberfest weekend. nice to have some classic styles on the board here!
