a raspberry version of their little ripple beer, which is just a drinker, and this is successful because it isnt sweet, even if the fruit comes across as only partially natural, more of an extract or syrup or something to me, rather than actual berries, although i do not know for sure how they make it. not much color from the fruit either, just a little pink to it, nice clarity, short white head from the tap. it smells fruit forward because the base beer is so light, but at the same time, the same issues that plagued the original are also present here, a little tired to me in nose and taste, not quite oxidized but not fresh either, and the fermentation is a little weird, slightly metallic as well, uncommon for these guys who usually have a higher degree of refinement in their beers, and the raspberry, while taste, doesnt save this or make it better than its base beer by any measurable degree. the fruit softens some of the astringency i remember in the original, and maybe its a tad smoother overall. its still got some earthy grain flavor coming through so this has more balance than a lot of these do, where the fruit just takes over, but i think this is still an evolution or two away from being anything great. its main attribute is that its on the dry side for what it is.
