Our flagship beer, Northern Lights Hazy IPA is aggressively dry hopped with Citra, Mosaic, and Simcoe hops, Northern Lights bursts with aromas of mango, pineapple, and papaya. Pouring a hazy golden yellow, those juice-filled tropical flavours repeat on the tongue before giving way to a perfectly balanced bitter finish.
Full-bodied and flavourful, with lively carbonation. It’s a showstopper.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, from their Summer IPA Sampler from my favourite LCBO at The Roundhouse Centre in nearby Windsor. My seventh beer from the Peterborough, ON brewery...
April 17, 2026: At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From their IPA Mix Pack at my favourite LCBO at Tecumseh Mall in nearby Windsor. No date stamp or lot number. My 2nd time drinking this, and 1st for 2026. Stealthily loved by Sundae...

473 ml can served cold into a tulip. LCBO purchase for $3.65 CDN. Canned April 16, 2019.
Appearance - Fairly hazy and turbid, pale golden straw color with a suggestion of peach hues. Impressive two fingers of fluffy dense white head and good staying power.
Smell - Grapefruit, hints of lemon zest and a touch of pineapple make for a juicy tropical splash. A little bit perfumey as well.
Taste - Fairly subdued overall. Certainly some tropical fruits, orange, grapefruit pineapple and some melon are the stars, but to me the taste is thin and everything seems to fade off into lightly hopped mineral water afterwards.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied, fairly heavily carbonated. Easy drinking. About right for the style.
Overall - Was hoping for a little more flavor, as Northern Lights just falls a little flat for me. Not a bad IPA by any stretch, but seems a bit behind many other local IPA's and could use a little more juiciness.
Re-review August 6, 2024. Had this again for the first time in a few years. The beer is quite similar, but found the flavors to be much more intense than the last go around. Sweet and juicy for sure. Have bumped up Taste and Overall by 0.25 for revised rating.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated Apr 9 2019 and served barely chilled. This seems to be an NEIPA in all but name only - or at least, the 'hazy' descriptor and inclusion of oats make that a fairly strong argument.
Pours hazy as expected, with a translucent, goldenrod-coloured body initially topped with nearly an inch of soapy, foamy white head. It settles off within five minutes or so, leaving behind a wide, frothy collar and a beautiful, messy doily-patterned coat of lace; I certainly can't argue that it's unattractive. The nose is also quite enticing, with mandarin orange, grapefruit and pineapple coming through quite clearly, accompanied by lesser hints of mango, passion fruit and wheaty grain.
Ooh, yummy - the fruity hop flavours tend to dominate, though the wheaty, grainy malts and oats do provide an underlying, lightly sweet scaffolding to the experience. I'm getting orange and grapefruit, as well as pineapple, passion fruit and mango. Towards the back end is where the hints of melon and lychee creep up, but the sip concludes with a relatively pithy, gently floral bitterness that preludes a fruity, melon-y aftertaste. Medium-full in body, with low-ish carbonation levels that meekly agitate the palate; the overall texture is fairly soft and smooth. I pounded this one back with ease, and wouldn't have minded another.
Final Grade: 4.17, an impressive A-. If Northern Lights was really meant to be a New England IPA then I'd say that they very nearly nailed it... but either way, I'd definitely say it's Bobcaygeon's best work yet. Of course, I'm a hophead so I can't be entirely objective here, but there's no question that this is a quality IPA, and I'd say it matches up respectably with virtually all of its Ontario-based competition. Well worth trying if you can find it: a brew that is definitely going to enter my rotation, assuming it remains stocked here.
