Bobber is back! This beloved Micro IPA has returned, this time with a Citra and Mosaic dry hop, bringing a peachy tangerine aroma. A candied fruit flavour shines through with a dry finish. Refreshing and balanced, a responsible choice without sacrificing any flavour.

At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, from their Summer IPA Sampler at my favourite LCBO at The Roundhouse Centre in nearby Windsor. My fourth beer from the Peterborough, ON brewery.

473 mL can from the LCBO; dated May 31 2021 and served slightly chilled.
Pours hazy and translucent, its pale straw yellow-coloured body supporting a lumpy, soapy white head nearly a finger high. Within several minutes, it has been whittled down to a wide, frothy collar and filmy cap - looks good already, but it's those sticky globs of lace that really seal the deal for me. Smells of mandarin orange and wheaty grains, with suggestions of berries and stone fruit; not the most aromatic thing I've ever come across, but still reasonably fragrant for an ultra light beer.
It's an acceptable session ale - mild-mannered and restrained, with very low bitterness. I'm tasting gritty grains and wheat, with light, hoppy citrus flavours filling in the rest of the profile - orange and lemon in particular, with hints of lime zest and lemon pith dissipating quickly into a seltzer water aftertaste. Light in body, with zippy, aggressive carbonation - it does have a club soda/seltzer-like feel, which I do not myself prefer, but I suppose it works fine in these light beers. Easy to toss back, possibly in multiples, but I'm not sure I'd say that this beer left me satisfied.
Final Grade: 3.47, a B-. Bobcaygeon's Bobber is low in calories as well as flavour: even by 'session IPA' standards this is pretty underwhelming, but beer geeks on a diet should still consider giving it a looksie. I suppose I'm not the target market for this stuff, at least not yet - though at the rate I've been consuming beer over the past 16 months, a substantial beer gut does seem inevitable.
