At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, 473mL in a pint glass. From their IPA Mix Pack at The Roundhouse Centre LCBO in nearby Windsor. No date stamp or lot number. My eleventh beer from the Peterborough, Ontario brewery, and seventh for 2025. Adored by Gracie the cat...

473 mL can from the LCBO, included in Bobcaygeon's most recent IPA mix pack. No canning date; served slightly chilled.

Pours a foggy pale yellow colour, with countless flecks of sandy sediment clouding its complexion. An inch of soapy white foam rises from the surface, dropping back down to a thin collar and a frothy cap within a few minutes; lots of beautiful, sticky lace is left behind in its wake. Low-key aroma of grainy, crackery pale malts, lemon peel, lime and berries, with suggestions of piney hops.

Not bad; nothing terribly exciting to report, but it tastes fine and goes down easy. Citrusy flavours are what stand out to me, primarily lemon and lime peel; there's also grainy pale malts underneath, as well as hints of indeterminate tropical fruits. Earthy, piney hop bitterness asserts itself briefly towards the finish, regressing to a pithy finish and a dry aftertaste. Light in body, with lively carbonation that contributes to this light pale ale's crisp, spritzy texture. Smooth, refreshing, and even a little thirst-quenching - a solid summer weather option.

Final Grade: 3.74, on the high end of a B grade. Day Trip is a decent, no frills session IPA that I'd consider picking up again. Its citrusy flavours are right up my alley - there are certainly more interesting Ontario-made examples of this substyle, but then again, I've had plenty of session IPAs that I'd rank below this one. I would gladly take this over Bobcaygeon's Bobber (micro IPA), and I think I'd also prefer this over their flagship Common Loon pale ale. If you're looking for a light pale ale to pair with some summer yard work, this is worth a try.
