You know me and my curmudgeonly adoration of the simpler styles of American craft's yesteryear. So needless to say I did not hesitate to order a crowler of this for curbside pickup.
Crowler was poured about 48 hours before I opened it.
E.S.B. has a nice pour for an ESB (and, me being a dumbass, I'm only now getting the pun). It's a pretty, dark amber with medium haze and a nice, fairly retentive white head.
The aroma is fairly light. Malt-forward with nodes of biscuits and caramel and then a little bit of lightly fruity hop tang.
It's solid overall but I don't think they're *quite* getting the hop profile they were aiming for. The grainbill is on the sweeter side but perfectly acceptable for the style. The finish does not balance this out fully, as the hop lack spice or bitterness. It's still a quenching, satisfying beer... just a wee bit uneven.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
