They should have called this a sandy blonde. It's a little malt forward for my desert taste. Not as refreshing as you'd like a summer California blonde to be.

Type: 16-oz. can
Glass: Modern Times willybecher pint
From: Keg N Bottle in San Diego, Calif.
Price: $7.99 for a 6-pack
Purchased: May 19, 2017
Consumed: May 19, 2017
Reviewed as: American Blonde Ale
Misc.: Can you dig it on May 8, 2017
First time I saw this in stores and had to a double take with the price. $7.99 for a 6-pack of 16-oz. cans? Sorry, Pick Six Pilsner. If this is any kind of decent it will become my new sipping beer. Had reviewed three other Second Chance beers, thinking highly of them with a 3.63 (Seize the IPA), 3.93 (Coco Rasa Porter) and 4.49 (Tabula Roasted Porter). Not the biggest blonde fan, but hoping it is in the 3.75 range for future value.
Poured a very light clear color with two fingers of frothy white head. Lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Excellent spiderweb foamy lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled the usual notes of a blonde, which sometimes seem boozy to me. Specifically grain, bready, Shredded Wheat cereal, grass, hay, floral and hints of honey. (Smell - 3.50)
Tasted about as good as the nose, maybe slight better. Everything was enhanced. Floral, almost perfume, green grape, grain, white bread, Shredded Wheat cereal, cracker, grass, hay and honey. (Taste - 3.75)
Light body. Oily-to-thin texture. Lively carbonation. Long, dry finish with some unknown spice late. (Feel - 3.75)
This was decent overall, but I think I overrated it a tad. Not thrilled with having a 6-pack, but glad it was only $7.99. (Overall - 3.75)
