They call this a “Brut Rosé Ale.” Clear golden orange with tall pile of foam in the narrow Kölsch glass. Mouthfilling creamy carbonation gives it a lush start. Not much hint of malt except for a little cereal taste. Modest fragrance of something like hibiscus tea. Hops are restrained, though there is something astringent and herbal in the finish. IBUs are rated at 20.
The usual dry finish with a scratch of bitterness and something brambly and woody. This is certainly one of the more drinkable Brut style IPAs I’ve tried. While it doesn’t taste like much it’s a nice change from the hoppy and dry version. From the 16 oz can purchased at Barons Market in San Diego.
