Didn’t get around to reviewing last year’s version, but was looking forward to reviewing this year’s as it was collaborated by Second Chance, Burgeon, North Park and some others. Online description read, “A collaboration brew celebrating San Diego's independent craft brewers. A San Diego style IPA brewed with Cashmere, Chinook, Nugget, Centennial & Amarillo hops. Hoppy with citrus, pine and a dry, bitter finish.” Not my favorite hop combo (still new to Cashmere), but it was definitely a West Coast IPA.
Poured a gold-to-light amber clear color with 1-to-2 fingers of frothy off-white head. Fast-moving bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Poor watery lacing. Below average retention. (Sight - 3.00)
Smelled caramel candy squares, Nugget, woody Chinook, pine, bitter orange peel and unsweetened iced tea. The addition of cat piss and black pepper from the can. (Smell - 3.75)
Taste was not nearly as good as the nose. Got caramel candy squares, Nugget, woody Chinook, pine, black pepper, bitter orange peel, Corn Flakes, unsweetened iced tea, toffee, honey and dry Centennial. Got better as it went down. (Taste - 3.50)
Medium body. Creamy-to-oily texture. Average carbonation. Bitter finish. (Feel - 3.75)
Very good overall, but not sure I’d want to have it again. (Overall - 3.75)
