Collaboration with Karl Strauss Brewing Company
A big, bold double IPA felt right celebrate our 5th anniversary. We chose our long time friends at Karl Strauss to collaborate with on this epic brew. Raise this beer much like we do to friends, family, health and happiness. Cheers to 5 more.
Tasting notes: Bright top notes of fruit with a bold, resinous hop aftertaste and a dry malt finish.

Grabbed a can and a few others while looking for some beer for Jay. I usually grab new Second Chance beer whenever I can, even if I think their hoppy stuff is behind their other stuff. Back of the can read, “A big, bold double IPA felt right celebrate our 5th anniversary. We chose our long time friends at Karl Strauss to collaborate with on this epic brew. Raise this beer much like we do to friends, family, health and happiness. Cheers to 5 more.” Tasting notes on the can were, “Bright top notes of fruit with a bold, resinous hop aftertaste and a dry malt finish.” No mention of hops, but would think Simcoe with those tasting notes. Looking forward to the collab with Karl Strauss.
Poured a medium yellow clear color with two fingers of off-white frothy head. Just a few solo bubbles coming up from the sides of the glass. Decent watery lacing. Decent spotty retention. (Sight - 3.75)
Smelled dank resin, pine, grapefruit rind, black pepper, floral, herbal and earthy malt. A little more earthy malt from the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted similar to the nose, maybe not quite as good. Got dank resin, black pepper, bitter aspirin, pine, grapefruit rind, herbal, floral and earthy malt. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Long bitter finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Just an excellent representation of a West Coast Double IPA. (Overall - 4.25)

I just had this yesterday . The can says best by 12/20 so I assume it was canned 4 months ago. If that is the case the flavor could be influenced by the 4 month shelf life . That being said it was a dank , stale , and malty mess. A total waste of $16 for a 4 pack.
