Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: New England IPA
Glass: Pure Project 16-oz. snifter glass
Price: $3.99
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Aug. 19, 2021
Consumed: Sept. 15, 2021
Misc.: Collaboration with Pizza Port; No canned on date; Best by Dec. 7, 2021
Picked this up on a recent trip to Windmill Farms. Big fan of Second Chance although I think they are a notch down on their IPAs. Untappd description for this one was “Hazy IPA with pineapple and coconut. Collaboration with Pizza Port Brewing Company.”
Poured a dark-to-medium yellow murky color with three fingers of frothy off-white head. Pretty calm underneath with just a few bubbles coming up from along the sides of the glass. World-class uneven lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled a big dose of coconut, followed by pineapple. They each play well nice together on the nose. Also suntan lotion, vanilla, cedar, hints of marshmallow and floral. No mention of hops but I would think Sabro would be playing apart from the nose. Just as good from the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Taste followed the nose but not quite as good overall. In order got coconut, pineapple, papaya, mango, tangerine, citrus pulp, suntan lotion, vanilla, cedar, hints of marshmallow and floral. Still thinking Sabro for at least one of the hops. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long finish. (Feel - 4.25)
This was much better than I thought it was going to be. Not sure I need to have more than one, but outstanding at least. (Overall - 4.25)
