Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: American IPA
Glass: Melvin 14-oz. Spiegelau IPA glass
Price: $3.29
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: April 27, 2021
Consumed: May 19, 2021
Misc.: Best by Sept. 6, 2021
Headed over the Windmill Farms to see what new stuff they had. Grabbed one of these, which was described on Untappd as “West Coast IPA with Mosaic, Citra & Strata hops.”
Poured a medium gold-to-light amber clear color with two fingers of frothy white head. Lots of bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass at different speeds. Almost perfect foamy spiderweb lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled all three mentioned hops pretty quick on the nose, in order Strata, Mosaic and Citra. Also grapefruit rind, grass, pine, mixed berry, floral and some caramel malt. A little better out of the can. (Smell - 3.75)
Tasted almost as good as the nose. Strata still led the way, followed by Citra, grapefruit rind, melon, grass, bitter pine, mixed berry, floral, caramel malt, black pepper and light Mosaic. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Oily texture. Average carbonation. Bitter finish. (Feel - 3.50)
Very good overall but it felt like I overrated it slightly. Bitter and piney. (Overall - 3.75)
