as a belgian single type or something, this isnt bad beer at all. lots going for it, but as a saison, its unsatisfactory for me. crystal clear for one, all i taste is pilsener malt and maybe the most blanched out white wheat ever, hardly there. the yeast is belgian all the way it seems, fruity and estery, even sharp like that, without any trace of funk, farm, wild, or anything else. it could be a french saison strain i suppose, but if it is, they havent given it the right grain sugars so make it taste like its meant to. i think as a session belgian pale even, its pretty good, but those looking for a more traditional saison will be disappointed here. there are some robust bittering hops on the back end too, which help it finish nicely, but i am left wondering if some yeast got mislabeled in the back. its that far off. carbonated well and easy drinking with a minimal body and a session level abv. good beer, just not a saison by any measure i would tolerate. give me some weird yeast in this and id be happy. too clean and refined.
