a solid mexican lager with a little more malt character, approaching the vienna lager ranger, but drier than most of those. a nice brew overall and a fine compliment to the bold flavors and spicy food of this wonderful restaurant the beer is brewed for. they kill it with the food there, so its nice that they commissioned a beer to match. there is a light copper shade to this, a high white head from the tap, and a simple, slightly earthy aroma, less sweet than a lot of these on the grain side, a little fruitiness from the yeast but not quite the limey mexican lager character i expected, and enough hops to balance this out, some bitterness comes on late. its not as rich on the grain side as a traditional amber lager, but its fuller than most pale mexican lagers too. a light herbal note to the hops, a trace of citrus as well, and a soft toasted character, its well refined, somewhat distinctive for a style that tends to run a little samey, and most importantly i reckon, an excellent beer with most of the food on the menu here, which is pretty much all amazing in my experience. a fun one to enjoy with their tacos!
