such clever beer in this place, and this is another one, man i am loving these guys! this is a honey based brew but with some fermentation character too, really enjoyable, not too sweet, and somewhat lower alcohol than i have seen in other braggot types, which keeps it pretty drinkable as these go. this is a little darker than a lot of them, an amber hued brew with a nice white head from the faucet, slightly darker than most honey, but in the same color family, a little crystal malt is immediately evident in the nose. this has a sort of english build, maybe some maris otter or other english crystal, bready and baked, crumbly and hearty, the honey is floral and with orange notes, blossoming and springy, and there is a light tang or something too in the nose it seems. the flavor is awesome, really surprisingly honey driven given the deeper malt color it has, the grain tastes lighter than it smells, a biscuit note, but out of the way. the floral aspect of the honey really opens up in here, slight tea and even alfalfa to me, and some obvious orange peel character as well. its never all that sweet, but it is sort of hefty feeling, a slow drinker even if its light for the style, well carbonated too, just with some residual density from both honey and grain. the tang or fermentation character i got in the nose is less evident in the taste of this, but there is still a little yeast flavor here at the end. awesome beer overall, thoughtful, intentional, well executed. cant wait to get back in here!
