another unique and peculiar gruit type from these guys, they seem to do more of this sort of thing than anyone out there, and i love it. i think this has a ton of herbs in it, things like lavender and heather and hyssop seem apparent, but i didnt get the full story on it this time, so its a lot of speculation and guessing for my palate, which makes this a lot of fun to drink. to me its a bit less sour than a few of their others have been, and also extremely autumnal, with a hearty toasted malt complexion underneath all the herbs and a little sweetness from it too. there a some light funk, some botanical bitterness, and hints of citrus peel, pine, dried flowers, and tea in here, highly aromatic and almost as intense in the taste. some pucker still, but less outwardly acidic i reckon, some almost compost character too, like fallen leaves and vegetable peels or something. juniper, jasmine, elderflower, even licorice root or something, its super interesting and complex, almost like a medicinal tonic, feels like its good for me. some light funk to it at the end, light carbonation, and a medium body. id say this is really one of a kind beer, but they do others like it here at bellwether. they seem to be awfully enthused on this style, and i have to say, i am too, now having had several of them here. they really have a good thing going, its one of my favorites in spokane. this is clever, herb forward, and really different.
