16oz pour at Locos (a joint venture between Bellwether, Grain Shed and a local coffee roaster)
Poured into the glass, this was a hazy golden amber color. The server filled it all the way to the top, so there was basically no head. Once I drank a little off, some rough swirling yielded only a thin off-white head with some scattered, spotty lace.
Although touted as a "New Zealand - style Pilsner", it wasn't very hoppy in the nose. Vague melon-like notes were present, but that was about it.
A little more interesting in the taste. Melon-y and slightly mango-ey flavor up front, with a slightly pithy bitterness on the back end, with a little bit of some crackery malt notes.
Medium bodied, with a mouth feel that was a bit flabby for the style. Perhaps not surprising given it's abv.
This was okay, but nothing mind blowing. As a beery thirst quencher on a mid-90s summer day, I think I prefer the rice lager I hit before this.
