Continuing our smoked beer line-up with this old Polish style. Very light beer made with 100% oak-smoked wheat, and well-seasoned with Polish hops (Lublin/Lubelski). Best served cold, like most wheat beers.

Bottled, bottle conditioned and a traditional Polish style
pours a cloudy lemon jello body with good white head
Aroma is smoked cheese and lemon curd
subtle smoke and chewy malt and wheat
very fizzy but I do believe that is so style, most refreshing smoked beer I've had

This is a Grodziskie: a historical style of beer, originally from Poland, made with oak-smoked wheat malt.
L: Pale gold with a thin, white cap that leaves some lacing. Visible carbonation is low.
S: Smoke very much to the fore. Light and fruity woodchips.
T: Like an American wheat beer rescued from a warehouse fire. Light, lemony, kind of refreshing, but with lots of smoke in the aftertaste. The malt base is delicate so this literally tastes of bonfire.
F: Light body, light bitterness, medium/light carbonation.
O: Just not a style I find particularly compelling. I prefer a dark, malty brew where the smoke enhances the toasted quality of the grain. This is very light, so the smoke is the main reason to drink. That and the incredibly low ABV. Smoke-lovers might rate this higher. I'm also led to believe that a traditional Grodziskie should be much more highly carbonated than this example from Derbyshire, England.
