Moritas is our Spelt Saison aged on second use blackberries. After we refermented a blended golden ale on heaps of fresh blackberries to create Moras, we transferred the beer off fruit and then immediately added our Spelt Saison on top of the spent fruit. Aging on second use blackberries adds a little color and a subtle berry note to this very funky, tart, and highly drinkable Saison.

On tap at the brewery. The slightest bit pink. Smells of oak, grain, and a light berry fruitiness. Tastes much the same. Lots of oak, light lemon tartness. Hints of berry but it dies down as oak and tartness build. Light and crisp. Good.

750ml bottle, dated 06.19.2019, poured into a stemless wine glass. Enjoyed on 11.24.2024, reviewed from Tasting Journal.
The beer pours a nice golden honey color, light amber hues, with a fizzy white head, no retention nor lacing. The aroma is nice, funky with nice blackberry, stone fruits, wildflower, pale grain, and mineral water. The flavors are good, lots of tart blackberry, cherry, vanilla, pale dough, plenty of funk, earthy with a touch of smokiness, and mineral water. The mouthfeel is good, coating, lively medium body, tart but with an easy finish.
Verdict: A decent blackberry farmhouse ale from Odd Breed. There is an oddly smoky note that is hard to get by but the beer is otherwise bright, tart, and pleasantly funky.

Bottle to tulip.
The appearance was a modest dark orange color with a little bit of pink here and there sort of color. Started with a foamy white head that quickly slid off to leave just some small bubbles along the sides.
The aroma had some semi-sweet to tart blackberries up front with some semi-sweet vinous tones. Some oak sweet to dry tart and sour whiffs. Super subtle lemon further underneath.
The flavor leaned towards the sour to crisp tart blackberry tones. Mellow lemon with oak. Subtle aftertaste of grassy to blackberry and lemony character.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a fair sipping quality about it. Decent carbonation. Sour isn't scathing, just seems "there" for the style. Finishes crisp with some blackberries, grassiness and lemon.
Overall, pretty nice American wild ale but I don't see this as a Belgian saison.
