Pours a dark amber, almost brown color. The head is a nice tan color, frothy, and 1 finger.
The nose is rich with notes from the barrel ageing. Rich, malty. Dark fruity earthy smells.
The taste is somewhat more mellow up front than I would have expected based on the barrel ageing, and the ABV. I do get a nice burn on the backside. I also get notes of, I think plums. Really no hoppiness - 22 IBU. It really drinks easier than an 11.2% beer, but I know it is and am taking my time with it.
Smooth feeling. Full bodied. Nice barrel burn going down that warms me up.
Overall, Bad Habit's first bottle release beer is a delicious treat.
