The bottle says it was bottled in 2021.
There's a bit of smoke and a slight pop on the opening of the bottle. The beer pours pitch black looks somewhat thick while pouring. The beer even when held up to the light is still pitch black. The head is only 1 finger, and brown. The size of the bubbles is smaller and it looks frothy. The head does dissipate fairly quickly. There's no lacing on the glass.
The nose does have hints of chocolate in it, as well as marshmallow. The aromas are fairly light.
The flavor starts out strong with the bourbon barrel, and the barrel does seem to be the main flavor in this beer. Faint hints of chocolate and marshmallow do poke through. There's some sweetness here, but, again it's drowned out by the barrel.
Body is decent, I would have expected it to be more creamy feeling. The heat from the barrel does hit harder than I'd expect from a beer that's been in my fridge for 2 years.
It's an interesting beer, but I think this batch (and I'm not sure if it's a beer in their rotation, or retired) is way too strong with the barrel, and not as strong with the flavors that it should have.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
