From a 12oz bottle. Picked up at the release party on 10-29-2025.
This is pitch black in the glass. This looks darker than a standard porter. This also looks thicker than a standard porter. NOTE - Aaron, owner of Bad Habit said that 30% of this beer was the angel share over the 5 years in the barrels. There's a 1 finger brown head to this beer that was pretty long lasting for the style, age, ABV. There's a ring on my glass when the head dissipates.
Aroma - Well, complex is a basic word for it. It has a rum charismatic, though it was aged in bourbon barrels. I also get oak notes. There's a woody hit to my nose. There's a vanilla note. Caramel, toffee also come into play. I almost get a Gin note on the aroma, while pleasing, is also interesting to me.
Taste - I know I won't be able to fully describe this beer's flavor. There's so many complex notes. There's a good hit of malts up front, and they change in profile throughout. There's notes of leather, dark chocolate, caramel, toffee, vanilla, a huge woody hit, and so much more than my limited taste buds can describe.
Wow,this is a Porter. The body is so damn full and smooth. There's a slight burn here, but it is a fitting burn with the smoothness.
I would say that this is a world class beer. The review I'm writing is based on my second tasting of it. I wish all could get a chance to try one of the few bottles of this beer.
