22 oz. Bomber

Pours a pretty nice cloudy amberish color, nice carbonation, with a nice fizzy small off-white head, with some sticky lacing left behind. The nose is malty, yeasty, tarty, slight raspberries. The taste is malty, nice yeast note, tart, with some raspberries. Medium body, ABV is hidden pretty well. Overall, a tasty brew. It's been quite awhile since last having anything from this brewery.

Bottle pour into a shaker pint glass.

Stumptown Tart pours a very light copper color with just a tint of pink. There was a decent head on it as well. Al the smells you would expect are there, including fruitiness from both the belgian yeast and from the marionberries.

The beer has all those excellent esters from the yeast. It's a little tart, which is fitting considering the name, but it also has a sweet underbite. It is pretty strongly carbonated.

Overall, a very solid fruity beer that I would probably enjoy more in the summer than in the chilly late fall.

Poured into a St. Bernardus goblet.

Look: A sort of cherry-champagne colored body. Light cream colored head that recedes to a light wisp, tiny dots of lacing.

Aroma: A little bit of a boozy aroma, but otherwise pure raspberries. The booziness somewhat interferes with the fruitiness, making a sordid metallic presence, but it's mostly fruit.

Taste: There is a fake sugar taste up front, immediately, Sweet N Low or whatever. Very raspberry, very tart, but also metallic and fake-sugary. Yes that's a new word. Fake-sugary.

Mouthfeel: Dry, very dry almost like a malt liquor.

Overall: Was okay on the first few cold sips. The more it warmed, the more it declined. Metallic, bitter.

This year's edition is brewed with raspberries. Lovely clear pink-tinged amber color with plenty of lacing in the tall Blanche de Chambly glass. Just a little tart, which makes it all the more drinkable.

Just a little sweetness with a lovely fruit flavor. There is a little bitter taste, like berry seeds. No detectable hop notes. Interesting that it's so strong in alcohol, yet so light bodied. I don't detect much Belgian character or yeasty flavor.

An extremely pleasant fruity and fizzy brew. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at New Seasons Market in Portland.
