Poured from a 16oz can into a New Glarus 30th anniversary mug. Straw good with a finger of soapy white foam head. Grains on the nose with light yeast and lighter lemon aromas. Taste follows with an easy drinkability to it. Medium-full mouthfeel. Well carbonated. Not the most flavorful lager you’ll try but it’s good for what it is. Refreshing in its simplicity.

I got this off the Montgomery Binnys single shelf to share at my old neighbor house. It poured a clear golden with no head and no lace. The scent had faint grain. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with grain pedigree. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is an ok beer.

Pours a hazy cloudy bright yellow straw color. Clearly unfiltered. Thin white head dissipates quickly leaving no residual head.
Smell has notes of grain, malts and a touch of grass. Slightly sweet aroma.
Taste follows the nose with sweet grain, malts, corn and bread up front. Gives way quickly to a grassy bitter finish.
Feel is medium bodied, moderate but fizzy carbonation. Somewhat bitter finish.
This is pretty well done. Aroma is a bit muted, but otherwise its a solid simple pale lager. I'd drink it again.

Purchased from a local grocery. Packaging is clean and classic.
12oz bottle, poured into pilsner glass.
Hazy and deep golden color with a nice bright head. Retention above average with some lacing.
Inviting malt aroma.
Taste is clean and crisp, very drinkable. Good balance with a nice hop finish. Hops are said to be locally grown near the brewery.
ABV (4.6) and body make this an easy choice for an everyday go-to.
A great throwback to local sourcing, simple packaging and a nod to regional history.

Draft at the brewery, quick review from notes.
Not sure if this is the exact same as "Lager #1" it was labeled as "Sieur De LaSalle Lager".
Pale gold with sharp clarity, thin layer of foam that fades and leaves spotty lace behind.
Aroma of lager yeast, a touch sulphuric with crackery pils malt in the background.
Taste was pretty basic, simple pilsner malt and yeast character, not much hop presence at all.
Light bodied with ample carbonation, though it was a touch watery.
Overall it was ok, but lacked the nuance of a good craft lager.

Lager #1 is a polished golden beauty. Although it's unfiltered it's amazingly clear and shimmers like 24kt gold. The clean white head rises to an easy two fingers in height, and though eventually fading to a thin cap, has good staying power overall leaving patchy lacework down the glass. She's pretty!
The nose is that of freshly cracked grain, subtle with a welcomed, comforting floral hoppiness. Damp grain and a little minerality play their part as well. The florals are pretty bright, that of perfume-y flower petals along with an even handed grassiness. Nice.
The flavor profile follows the nose stride for stride. Fresh cracked grain leads the way before the damp graininess takes over. A squeeze of lemon brightens up the middle and lingers through the finish along with some of that minerality. The floral quality is tampered down a bit in comparison to the nose but it's mellow on the finish. with a touch of grass. Good beer.
The body sits a touch below moderate in weight with a zippy carbonation that prickles the tongue and kickstarts the tastebuds. A soft bitterness kicks in mid palate and lingers through the finish and until the next gulp, and by "gulp" I mean gulp. This beer is maddeningly easy to drink. Especially after a long week with a lot of work.
Lager #1 is a good beer from the folks at Tangled Roots. It's bright, clean and refreshing. The soft bitterness keeps it going. The drinkability is off the charts. I'd certainly buy this beer in the future.
