Brown color, not super dark. Really strong metallic aroma, some brown aroma character. Flavor starts off really strong metallic.. transitions to brown, slightly caramel flavor. A little fruity. Can’t really get past the metallic flavor. Got a hint of a pleasant grainy aftertaste through the metallic aftertaste. Decent body, high astringency. Very rough overall, would not get again.

Look: Clear amber-red to brown on the pour and my aggressive one brings on a billowing off-white head that slowly settles, coating the glass with lacing
Aroma: Freshly baked brown bread, molasses, toffee, melanoidin, caramel, and wafts of earthiness
Taste: Follows the nose well and after the initial bready hit, layers upon layers of malt flavors and sweetness develop – toffee, piloncillo, caramel, and molasses all in the mix. Earthy hops keep the sweetness at bay through the journey and close
Mouthfeel: Full but light, medium-high carbonation, clean, and a crisp, clean, and slightly soft finish
Overall: I dig it. As a lover of both Negra Modelo and these folks, I had to try this and it’s really good and well-made. I think it’s in a class of its own with the intensity and depth of malt flavor too so hard to compare them but I’d pick this ten times out of ten if they were both options. Recommended

Canned April 16th. Pours a rich dark amber- brown, slightly cloudy. Nose is malted milk, taste starts a bit dry, then opens up to a well-flavored lager. Modest ABV at 5.4%. This is an obvious take-off on Negro Modelo, which has been around a very long time indeed. Be interesting to try a side by side tasting.
