Look: Pours a rich amber with a booming beige head that balloons to the rim and holds well, settling slightly to reveal great lacing left behind
Aroma: Toffee, red apple skins, dried dark fruit, caramel, light earthiness, wafts of spice, and freshly baked bread
Taste: Rich bready notes and toffee kick this off and quickly develop depth as waves of dried dark fruit trickle in. Caramel, spices, and earthy notes present themselves in the middle before bread, toffee, and dark fruit return to close it out
Mouthfeel: Full, smooth, clean, medium-high carbonation, and smooth and soft on the finish
Overall: This is some tasty stuff. It was cool to see a lager brewer like these folks throw a curveball with an ale and a Winter Warmer at that, so I had to try it. It’s a well-made example and warms nicely without any hint of the 7%. Delicious and recommended
