On May 29, 1953, Sir Edmund Hillary of New Zealand and Tenzing Norgay, a sherpa of Nepal became the first to summit Mount Everest. On May 26, 2003, Lhakpa Gelu Sherpa accomplished a record-setting ascent of Everest with a time of 10 hours, 56 minutes, and 46 seconds. This record remains the fastest ascent of the south side of Mount Everest.
In recognition of Everest Day, Zoiglhaus is proud to brew this Himalayan Pilsner with our dear friend Mingma Sherpa. A touch of Himalayan Pink Salt and an addition of Himalayan Basmati rice gives this lager what every climber wants after a long day on the mountain. The spicy and herbal hop aromatics beg for another sip. Crisp like the high mountain air, noble like the Sherpas who make it all possible! Prost!

This beer pours a semi-clear golden color with a small head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is pilsner and rice malt with a slight salt smell. The taste is a little different than a normal pilsner because of the salt, I believe. Not a bad beer but different and I'm not sure I would buy again. 30 IBUs Rated 8-24-2024

Look: Pours a cloudy straw yellow and quickly, a luscious white head forms and retains well, slowly receding to leave good lacing behind
Aroma: Soda crackers, rice water, floral notes, pilsner malt, and light salinity
Taste: Comes on quick with a combo of pilsner malt and rice water/rice that hit on their own before combining and ushering in the floral hops. Jasmine, daylily, and lilac stand out as the cracker-led malt and floral hops intertwine further until a touch of salt signals the close
Mouthfeel: Light but full, clean, medium-high carbonation, and crisp and clean on the finish
Overall: This one is really hitting the sweet spot for me. I love everything these folks do and was really intrigued when I spotted this new one and read the label as they brewed it as a pilsner but added Basmati rice and Himalayan salt to it as well. It drinks like a German Pilsner, Japanese Rice Lager, and Gose had a baby – which happen to all be in my top 5 warm weather beer styles and they pulled it off really well, IMO. Highly recommended, especially in the heat of summer
