Collaborations are only as good as the brewers involved. We landed a Hall of Famer from Ecliptic Brewing for this project. The reigning King of Porters (aka John Harris) worked with the Zoiglhaus team to create this imperial porter. Nightfall of Diamonds is brewed with a blend of American and German malts and hops. Rich malt flavors of chocolate, toffee, and coffee dominate this crisp creation. The hops provide hints of orange peel and citrus that blend harmoniously with the chocolate malts. Prost and cheers!

16oz can picked up at ABV Public House in Hillsboro, OR
Poured into a Unibroue tulip
P black w/ a dense 2f tan head; good head retention; med heavy lace towards the top of the glass
N med to med-bold; lots of roast w/ underlying chocolate
T follows the nose w/ plenty of dry roast, chocolate notes that mingle, and light citrus undertones; a simple, no-nonsense, and tasty profile
Mf light-med to med bodied w/ fairly high carb at first, but mellows out as it warms; lightly creamy- glides across the tongue
O a really nicely executed imperial porter

Look: Pitch black on the pour and in the glass with a frothy brown head that holds as a pillow and ever-so-slowly settles, leaving a ring of lacing behind
Aroma: Roast, bakers cocoa, coffee, freshly baked brown bread, hints of brown sugar, roasted tree nuts, and earthiness
Taste: Opens up with a rush of cocoa and roast that quickly develops depth as brewed coffee trickles in to join. Brown bread and earthiness come next with appearances from tree nuts and brown sugar throughout. Closes with cocoa, roast, and earthy notes
Mouthfeel: Full, silky smooth, clean, medium-high carbonation, and light to moderate dryness on the finish
Overall: This is some tasty stuff. This was an easy buy for me since I love Zoiglhaus’ offerings and in addition to enjoying and respecting Ecliptic, John is a legend and is responsible for the PNW’s iconic Black Butte Porter. A really tasty and well-made Imperial Porter with plenty of roast, cocoa, nuttiness, and earthiness that come together nicely and hides the 7.6% extremely well. Recommended
