Bought two cans from Beer Drop. This is a good representation of the tripel. They often use more brewers sugar and the really good ones are spiced well, but with fewer hops that 105 used. Also, the tripel's yeast (always hard for young brewers to get right) should motivate lots more fruit than I get from 105 West. However, 105 does conceal the alcohol pretty well... which does show craft.
To be as helpful as I could be a few days later, I drank the second can side-by-side with one of the master tripels, La Fin Du Monde. The big difference is the master's yeast produces more foam and fruit. But my perception is that 105 specializes in mild styles and the tripel is not that. So getting the yeast right will take time.
Would I have 105's rendition again ? Possibly, but fin Du Monde would not have to be around.
However, both improved a meal of leftovers.
