This was poured into a weizen glass. The appearance was semi-dark burnt amber to crisp orange color, yeah, maybe a bit darker than some other hefeweizens I’ve had. Normal fluffy white one finger-ed head dissipates a tad quicker as well. Filmy lacing. The smell starts off with the normal sweet to spicy qualities of a German hefeweizen and as it warms, subtle blueberry does slide in for a super nice subtle balance to it all. The flavor starts sweet and brings in the spice a little bit further underneath. Wheaty malt does slide in underneath. Aftertaste is light with the sweet wheat and subtle clove combined. Finish is quick and semi-sweet. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium in body. Great sessionability about it. Carbonation rides fairly light. Stickiness seems contained, but not cloying. Overall, fruit beer or German hefeweizen? Whatever the identity crisis is of this beer, it's quite good and authentic.

Idletyme Brewing Co. "Danube"
on tap @ Mule Bar, Winooski, VT on 7 June 2016
12 oz. glass / $4
listed as "Crop Danube 5.7%"
Appearance: Deep pink grapefruit color beneath a bright white head. Very good head retention and decent enough lacing.
Aroma: Fruity nose... blueberry is distinguishable, but not quite clear at the outset... with sweetish grainy wheat malt.
Flavor: As the aroma suggests. It's a wheat beer with blueberry added, not a "Blueberry wheat" where the fruit is predominant. It has a restrained bitterness, but also some tartness, which leads to a dryish and fruity finish that lingers for a few moments.
Mouthfeel: Light-medium in body and crisp.
Overall: Quite pleasantly this is not an over-done fruit beer. It maintains it's initial character and utilizes the addition of fruit as an extra component. Enjoyable, and quite drinkable.
